Introduction: Hello, everyone! I’m Tony Holowitz, and in this tutorial, I’ll guide you through the simple process of creating a new contact in Act software. Act is designed to help you manage your contacts efficiently, much like a digital business card organizer. Let’s get started on adding a new contact to your Act database.
-
Creating a New Contact: There are multiple ways to create a new contact in Act, making it easy to add essential business information quickly.
a. Using the New Contact Icon:
- Simply click on the “New Contact” icon, and a fresh contact screen will appear.
- Begin by entering the contact’s name, such as John Ryan, and continue filling out relevant fields like company name, email address, etc.
- The “Salutation” field will automatically take the first name and can be edited if needed.
b. Using the Insert Key:
- Another method is to press the “Insert” key on your keyboard, and a new contact screen will open for you to populate with the necessary information.
- Once completed, you can navigate back to your contact list.
c. Duplicating an Existing Contact:
- To save time, you can duplicate an existing contact if the new contact shares most of the same information with an existing one.
- Choose the contact you wish to duplicate, then go to “Contacts” and select “Duplicate Contact.”
- You’ll be prompted to choose whether to duplicate data from all fields or just the primary fields.
-
Saving the Contact:
- Act automatically saves the new contact once you’ve entered the required information. There’s no need to manually save the entry.
Conclusion: Creating a new contact in Act is a breeze, and it enables you to efficiently manage your business relationships and contacts. Whether you’re adding a brand new contact or duplicating an existing one, Act’s intuitive interface streamlines the process.
