You may have different standard layouts that come with Act, or perhaps you’ve customized or created your own layouts. Sometimes, different browsers render these layouts with subtle variations, but today I’ll guide you on how to select or choose a different layout.

Understanding Layouts

Layouts are the arrangements of fields that you see on your Act screen, including the top and bottom parts. If you have tried Act with an uploaded database, those layouts will carry over into your experience.

Steps to Change Layout

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to choose a different layout:

  1. Locate the Dots on the Right Side: You’ll find a series of three dots on the right-hand side of your screen. The three dots below are for changing layouts.

  2. If Dots are Not Visible: If you don’t see these dots, it may be because of your window setup. You can:

    • Click on the two squares at the top to “restore down” or shrink the window (note that the change might be minimal).
    • Click on the square to maximize the window, and the dots should now be visible.

  3. Click on the Bottom Dots: Once you see the dots, click on them and choose “Change Layout.”

  4. Choose Your Desired Layout: For example, you might switch from the “basic contact layout 800 by 600” to “1366 by 768.”

  5. Resizing Tip: If the layout appears too big, you can resize it by holding the CTRL key and pressing the minus (-) key to shrink things down.

Additional Tips

When working with layouts, it’s advised to write a text note of the size in the layout itself, helping you remember your preferred size. You can resize the browser itself to fit the layout comfortably.
