Bananatag for Outlook: A Great Tool for Act CRM users

by | Dec 30, 2020 | Act CRM Software Fundamentals

Bananatag for Outlook.  Don’t be in the dark.  a great tool for act software users.

About 10 days ago I received an email from a person that has an IT consulting business. He was asking me if I might be available to visit a company that needs computer training in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. I promptly emailed him back and said I was available to help them.

I had not heard back from him and I received his original email about 10 days ago so I decided to email him. My email asked him if the opportunity to train people at that particular company was still available. I did this for two reasons:

  • I was curious to know if the opportunity still existed
  • I wanted to illustrate my professionalism by making sure he knew I was capable of solid follow up with him with the hope that he would respect the fact I would do the same with the client he referred be to on his behalf

He never replied to my email even though I knew he received it.

I know that because I use Bananatag for Microsoft Outlook. When I send an email to someone I get an email back when they open it. In addition to that, if I have a link in the body of my email I will also receive an email when they click on that link. Even though he didn’t reply to me I knew that he had received my email and that spoke volumes to me.

Bananatag is an add-on for Outlook that cost approximately $70 per year and I think it is worth every penny. During the summer months when people take a lot of vacation time, I always find myself wondering if people haven’t gotten back to me because they’re on vacation or if they just simply haven’t gotten back to me. Should I follow up again? How many times should I follow up? How many times should I follow up to make them think that I work in a thorough and professional manner?

Bananatag eliminates these concerns for me because I know he received my email and that put the onus back on him to be professional by getting back to me. Even though he doesn’t know that I know that he got my email, I can interpret his inaction and a number of ways:

  • Because I know he got my email and he didn’t take the time to respond to my inquiry, I deem him to be unprofessional.
  • Because he didn’t respond I deemed him as not being very respectful is my time.
  • Because of the way he handled the situation, I will use that knowledge in future endeavors with him. Right or wrong, I have formed an opinion of him.
  • At a minimum, it is just rude that he didn’t reply.

You might not agree with my reaction to not getting a reply from him, but I’m being honest with my reaction. At the end of the day, I know he got my email and I did everything I could do to act professionally. I will not waste another moment on this matter because I know of done everything I can do to this point in time.

I got an answer to my email thanks to Bananatag, he just doesn’t know it.
