A client called me to ask for help him with his calendar layout.

Quite often some of my best ideas for Act software tips come from my conversations with my clients and this is an example of a recent conversation. My client did not like the way the Act calendar lined up his items on the calendar and he asked me to fix it. This is what I showed him.

Hi ladies and gentlemen, my name is Tony Holowitz. And I want to thank you for being here for this act tip. So I had a client call me the other day because he typically sets things in increments of 15 minutes. And you’ll notice that here on this particular calendar, the increments are 30 minutes long because of that meeting one, which was scheduled at eight and meeting two, which was scheduled at eight, 15 are right next to each other. He didn’t like that setup. So he called me the way you fix it is this I’m gonna go up to tools. And I am going to go down to preferences in the preferences. I’m gonna click on calendar and activities, and I’m gonna click on calendar preferences. You’ll notice that the daily calendar, the increments are 30 minutes and the work week calendar is also 30 minutes. I’m gonna choose 60 minutes just to illustrate a point and I’m gonna click.

Okay. And you’ll notice now that this has changed to one hour increments. Next, I’m going to go and choose calendar preferences again. And this time I’m gonna choose it back to 15 minutes, because that’s what he wanted. I’m gonna click. Okay. And you’ll notice now it is in 15 minute increments. I’m gonna click okay to get outta here. And now meeting one at eight is on top of meeting two at eight 15, the client is happy. You might find you like these increments set in a slightly different way. No problem.
