Transcript of How to Back-up Your Act CRM Data
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, this is Tony Holowitz in today’s act tip. We are going to talk about backing up your act data. Obviously, if you have a lot of information and act, it’s very important to make sure you back up your data, but a lot of my clients have act data on a laptop computer. So when you back it up, there’s a bunch of ways to do that. Or what I should say is there are a bunch of places where you can put that data in this tutorial. I’m just going to talk about backup and in future tutorials, I’m going to talk about where to back that up and the consequences of where you back it up, but to start with, if you want to back act, the first thing to do is go up to file, go down and click on backup right here and go database and act will pop up with a little dialogue box where you can give the database a name and I’m just going to call this act 2014 demo.
And actually it’s taking the name of the database, which is right up here and putting it down here. But I’m just going to put a little dash in here and put in the letter a, so instead of taking this sort of the standard name, I’m just going to put the dash a in there. I’m going to click on. Okay. And what you’ll notice is before I do that in the, the file will be backed up in a folder called act data backup act. Well, actually, that’s the file name, but act data backup within your act folders. So I’m going to click on, okay, it’s going to back up the file. This is a small database, so it did it rather quickly. And now I’ve backed up the data. Very simple to do. Another way you can back up your data is you can also do, um, customized scheduled backup. And in another tutorial, I’m going to show you how to do that. That’s just a simple backup. I’m going to show you a couple more ways and a couple other things to think about, but that’s the easiest way to do it.
My name is Tony Holowitz. Thank you very much. Have a great day.
