I use a tool called Dragon NaturallySpeaking to dictate documents, such as this one, create and reply to emails, and at times entering information into Act. Dragon NaturallySpeaking is something that you must spend some time with and learn how to use. In my opinion, it is worth it.
When I am writing I like to jot my notes or an outline down on yellow legal pad. Next, I will take what I have written down and dictate my thoughts into a document such as Microsoft Word. This allows me to finalize the information that I want to share. I am not a great typist. What I really like about Dragon NaturallySpeaking is that it opens a world to me because it eliminates the need to spend a lot of time creating documents when I know I type at a slower pace.
You have to think differently when dictating. Quite often what you say in conversation does not always translate to good writing. I try my best, but I know there is a trade-off. Once you learn how to use Dragon NaturallySpeaking you will find that you can take that knowledge and use it elsewhere. If you receive business cards and you need to get that information into Act, or if you are reading something off of the list and want to put it into Act, Dragon NaturallySpeaking can make a long tedious process easier and much more efficient.
