In this tutorial, I will show you a simple alternative for creating a copy or back up of your ACT database.

Hi, ladies and gentlemen, my name is Tony Holowitz. And in this tutorial, I’m gonna show you another way you can back up your act data. In the previous tutorials, I had shown you how to do a file backup right here, but in this tutorial, I wanna talk to you about file. Save copy as to do a quick act backup. When you do save copy, as you can create a backup of your entire act database and just simply give it another name, an example of when you might wanna do this, maybe you’re training an employee, how to use it, or you just wanna mess around with one of your databases to practice or do some things. Well, if you go to file, save copy. As all you have to do is give your database another name. So in this case, I’m just gonna call it demo.

And unfortunately you can’t put spaces in it. So I’m gonna put an underscore and then I’m gonna call it two. And I can decide once I’ve created this, where I want to put it, I recommend just leave it in the default area that act puts the databases. But one of the things that’s interesting about this is let’s say you want to create a second database for some reason, but you don’t want any data in it. Well, your first option here, which is just the standard option com does a complete and total copy, but you can also do what’s called create an empty copy. And the empty copy is your exact database layout, all the fields, all the layouts, but it has no data in it whatsoever. So you can start over. So there are different reasons why you’d want to use save copy as, but if you want to create a backup of your database very quickly, just click on. Okay? And I’m an advocate. If you’re about to make a major change in your database, make some kind of backup, whether it’s this way or by doing a file backup. So just wanted to show you another option.
